Airbus A330-941, construction number 1865, was delivered to Delta Air Lines as N408DX in 2020 as part of the airline's next generation widebody fleet renewal. The aircraft entered service on long haul routes from hubs such as Atlanta, Seattle, and Detroit, flying to destinations in Europe, South America, and Asia. N408DX features Delta's modern cabin with Delta One Suites, Premium Select, Comfort Plus, and Main Cabin seating, along with updated inflight entertainment and connectivity. Powered by Rolls Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 offers improved fuel efficiency, range, and passenger comfort. N408DX has become a core component of Delta's international network, supporting reliable and efficient long distance operations.

Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
