Boeing 727-232, construction number 20788, was delivered to Delta Air Lines as N413DA in the late 1960s during the airline's expansion of its domestic jet fleet. The aircraft operated short and medium haul routes across the United States, connecting Delta's hubs in Atlanta, New York, and Chicago, as well as leisure destinations in the Southeast. N413DA featured a two class cabin typical of the era and wore Delta's classic red, white, and blue livery. The 727-200's three engine configuration and T-tail allowed operations from shorter runways, providing flexibility across Delta's network. N413DA served reliably for several years before retirement as Delta modernized its fleet with more efficient jets.
