Airbus A320-271N, serial number 12429, entered service with Lufthansa as D-AING. The aircraft joined Lufthansa's next generation narrowbody fleet and operates short and medium haul routes across Europe from hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. Configured with business class and economy seating, the A320neo provides improved passenger comfort and operational efficiency. Powered by Pratt and Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan engines, the aircraft offers significantly reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions, and quieter operation compared with earlier A320 models. D-AING supports Lufthansa's ongoing fleet renewal program.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
