McDonnell Douglas MD-11F, registered N572FE, flies for FedEx Express as part of the Memphis-based carrier's fleet of MD-11 freighters on its overnight international express network. FedEx and UPS were the two main operators of the MD-11 freighter in the United States, using the three-engine widebody for its large cargo volume and long range, and many of FedEx's aircraft were converted from passenger airliners. The type's final years have been shaped by the fatal crash of a UPS MD-11F at Louisville in November 2025, which led UPS to retire its own fleet.
