Saab 340A, serial number 340A-152, began service with Metro Airlines Northeast before joining Business Express Airlines as N749BA and operating as a Delta Connection feeder in the northeastern U.S. It featured a 34-seat commuter layout powered by GE CT7-5A2 turboprops. N749BA served daily regional routes connecting smaller airports to Delta hubs, providing reliable service throughout the 1990s. Following Business Express's acquisition by AMR Eagle Holding in 1998, the aircraft continued under Delta Connection branding until its retirement. After roughly 16 years in service, N749BA was ferried to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and dismantled. Its history reflects the typical life cycle of a regional turboprop airliner.
