Boeing 757-300, serial number 32986, was delivered to Northwest Airlines as N587NW in December 2002, joining the carrier's short-lived fleet of stretched 757-300s. Powered by Pratt & Whitney PW2040 engines, it featured a 24-seat First Class and approximately 200-seat Economy configuration, serving high-density domestic and transcontinental routes. Following Northwest's merger with Delta Air Lines in 2009, N587NW was transferred to Delta's fleet, continuing to operate primarily on busy U.S. domestic routes. Over its career, the aircraft received interior upgrades and modifications to remain competitive with newer narrowbodies. N587NW exemplifies the 757-300's role as a versatile, high-capacity narrowbody bridging domestic and medium-haul markets.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
