Boeing 727-251, serial number not confirmed, entered service with Northwest Orient Airlines as N254US. The aircraft joined Northwest's fleet during the expansion of domestic jet services in the United States. The 727-200 operated short and medium haul routes linking major hubs such as Minneapolis, Detroit, and Seattle. Configured with first class and economy seating, the aircraft provided efficient service and strong performance, particularly from shorter runways. Powered by three Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines, the 727 became a workhorse of U.S. domestic aviation. N254US supported Northwest Orient's extensive route network during the jet age.
