Boeing 727-222, construction number 20343, was delivered to United Airlines as N7620U in 1969 during the airline's rapid expansion of domestic jet service. The aircraft operated short and medium haul routes across the United States, linking major hubs such as Chicago O'Hare, Denver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. N7620U wore United's classic red, white, and blue livery of the era and featured a two class cabin with first class and economy seating. Powered by Pratt and Whitney JT8D engines, the 727-200 offered strong performance and reliability. N7620U served for many years before being retired as United transitioned to more efficient twin engine aircraft.
