The KC-135R Stratotanker is operated by the US Air Force and Air National Guard, including the 126th Air Refueling Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard based at Scott Air Force Base. The wing provides aerial refueling support for US and allied aircraft worldwide. KC-135R aircraft assigned to the 126th ARW use modern CFM56 engines that improve fuel efficiency, range, and reliability. Crews regularly support training missions, global mobility operations, and overseas deployments. The 126th ARW plays an important role in extending the reach of fighter, bomber, and transport aircraft through reliable aerial refueling capability.
Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
Designed as an in-flight refueling tanker for the United States Air Force, the KC-135 was first flown in August 1956. It has played a crucial role in extending the range and endurance of U.S. and allied aircraft. Its primary mission is to refuel other aircraft in-flight, enabling them to operate over longer distances without the need to land for refueling. The aircraft is based on the Boeing 707 and has a distinctive appearance with its swept wings and a flying boom for refueling operations. Beyond aerial refueling, the KC-135 can also transport cargo, perform medical evacuations, and support strategic airlift missions. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
