USAF C-17A Globemaster III 07-7169 serves with the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. The C-17 provides the wing with worldwide strategic and tactical airlift capability, transporting troops, vehicles, helicopters, palletized freight, and other outsized cargo. Its combination of intercontinental range, aerial refueling capability, and excellent short-field performance allows 07-7169 to operate from both major bases and relatively austere airfields. Dover's C-17s support combat deployments, contingency operations, humanitarian relief, and aeromedical missions around the world. The Globemaster III complements Dover's larger C-5M Super Galaxy fleet, giving the 436th AW an exceptionally versatile heavy airlift capability. Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight". Designed by McDonnell Douglas as a military transport aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster III was first flown on September 15, 1991. This enormous aircraft is used for strategic airlift of cargo and troops, and is capable of rapidly deploying and sustaining combat troops in potential battle areas. Among its many additional uses are medical evacuation, airdrop and tactical airlift. Powered by four reversible turbofan engines, the C-17 requires a crew of just three (a pilot, copilot and loadmaster). Its Maximum payload is 170,900 pounds and it is capable of carrying and dropping 102 paratroopers and their equipment. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
