In early 2004, Lufthansa began to serve its route from Frankfurt to Santiago de Chile via Buenos Aires with its D-AIHA – making it the first commercial scheduled service using the world‘s longest plane. The original jet costs 165 million US dollars, but it can be operated much more cheaply than a Boeing 747-400.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
