Herpa Wings 551946
Lockheed F-16I Sufa Diecast Model
IDF/AF 253rd (Negev) Sqn, Ramon AB, Israel, Open Canopy Configuration

1:200 Scale   Length   Width
Lockheed F-16I Sufa   3"   1.75"

The Israeli airforce always possessed the most modern aircraft and it should come as no surprise that the IDAF still today operates some of the world’s best interceptors in the form of the F-16 "Fighting Falcon" developed by General Dynamics. Taken over from Lockheed, this ingenious design was modified for Israel into the F-16i "Sufa" (thunderstorm) in 2003, with more importance attached to range. The combat radius of the "Suva" extends 1,500 kilometers fully armed. Two models with open or closed cockpit cover and different tail design are now released in the 1/200 scale. The model with the open cockpit carries the registration 253 and is limited to 1,500 items. The one with the closed cockpit and the registration 421 is not limited. Please note: Unlike other models in the Herpa Wings series, this model features a permanently opened canopy and cannot be configured with the canopy in the closed position.

Lockheed F-16I Sufa

Designed by General Dynamics as a lightweight, daytime USAF air-combat fighter, the F-16 was first flown on January 20th, 1974. This single-engine, supersonic aircraft has, over the years, evolved into a multirole aircraft. It has a frameless bubble canopy-giving its pilot superior visibility-and it uses advanced aerodynamics. The F-16 was one of the first designs to use a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire system, which helps it pull 9-g maneuvers and achieve speeds of more than Mach 2. Called "Viper" by its pilots, the F-16 is considered one of the most successful aircraft designs of the Cold War, with 4,400+ aircraft built since 1976.
