Designed as a lightweight fighter for the French Air Force, the Dassault Mirage 2000 was first flown on March 10th, 1978. The Mirage 2000 is a fourth generation fighter based on the Mirage III. It has a delta wing, one engine, a dual-intake, and can carry a range of air-to-surface weapons, including laser-guided bombs. Variants include a single-seat or dual-seat version. The dual-seat 2000N is nuclear strike capable, armed with nuclear weapons and equipped with navigation avionics that are capable of handling air-to-ground munitions. Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Mirage 2000 is a sleek diecast model with crisp panel lines, manufactured with only the smallest amount of plastic. The side mounted engine intakes with fixed inlet cones are constructed in plastic for greater accuracy and the configurable canopy provides a clear view of the instrument panel, control stick and ejection seat. The rear turbine blades are easily seen inside the exhaust nozzle and the large refueling probe is mounted on the nose (in most releases).
