Red Flag is the U.S. Air Force's premier large-scale air combat training exercise, held primarily at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. During Red Flag 1992, the French Air Force deployed Mirage 2000N strike aircraft from EC 2/4, marking one of the type's earliest major U.S. exercise appearances. The detachment trained in realistic, high-threat strike scenarios, focusing on low-level penetration, terrain-following flight, and simulated employment of the ASMP stand-off missile. Flying alongside U.S. and NATO participants, Mirage 2000N crews practiced coordinated escort tactics, electronic warfare integration, and night strike profiles. Their performance highlighted the aircraft's strengths in precision navigation and survivability, helping validate France's nuclear strike doctrine in a complex, multinational air combat environment.
Designed as a lightweight fighter for the French Air Force, the Dassault Mirage 2000 was first flown on March 10th, 1978. The Mirage 2000 is a fourth generation fighter based on the Mirage III. It has a delta wing, one engine, a dual-intake, and can carry a range of air-to-surface weapons, including laser-guided bombs. Variants include a single-seat or dual-seat version. The dual-seat 2000N is nuclear strike capable, armed with nuclear weapons and equipped with navigation avionics that are capable of handling air-to-ground munitions. The Mirage 2000C is a single-seat, all weather interceptor armed with high firing rate 30mm guns. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Mirage 2000 is a sleek diecast model with crisp panel lines, manufactured with only the smallest amount of plastic. The side mounted engine intakes with fixed inlet cones are constructed in plastic for greater accuracy and the configurable canopy provides a clear view of the instrument panel, control stick and ejection seat. The rear turbine blades are easily seen inside the exhaust nozzle and the large refueling probe is mounted on the nose (in most releases). The thin yet solid metal wing features exceptional panel line details, flap and aileron actuator arms at the rear and a complete set of removable wing mounted ordnance.
