Lim-5, manufacturer serial number 1C1211, was built by PZL-Mielec as a Polish licence version of the MiG-17F and served with the Polish Air Force as 1211 until it became a civil aircraft in June 1996 as G-BWUF, then G-MIGG in 2003. FUBAR Aviation took it on in 2023 for restoration and registered it SP-MIL in 2026, making it Europe's only airworthy MiG-17 or Lim-5. It was photographed refuelling at Groningen-Eelde on May 31, 2026, returning to Warsaw from an airshow in Wales, and flies in Polish Air Force colors, with FUBAR also operating a Lim-2 and a two-seat Lim-2 trainer.
Designed as an enhanced version of the MiG-15 jet fighter, the MiG-17 was first flown on January 13th, 1950. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
