In 2025, U-2S Dragon Lady aircraft of the 5th Reconnaissance Squadron operated from Osan Air Base in South Korea, supporting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions across the region. The 5th RS, forward deployed from Beale Air Force Base, uses the U-2S for high altitude operations equipped with advanced sensors capable of collecting imagery, signals, and electronic intelligence. Missions focus on monitoring regional activity and providing strategic awareness to US and allied commanders. The U-2S remains a highly capable platform, able to operate at extreme altitudes for extended durations, contributing to persistent and reliable intelligence gathering in a contested environment. Designed as a long-range, high-altitude reconnaisance aircraft, the U-2 was first flown on August 4th, 1955. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
