The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) August 1st (Bayi) Aerobatic Team transitioned to the Chengdu J-10C in 2023, replacing its earlier J-10A display aircraft. The new J-10C-based display jets, often designated J-10CY, retain the fighter's advanced airframe while incorporating modifications for demonstration duties, including a smoke-generation system and a distinctive red, white, and blue paint scheme with gold trim. Powered by the AL-31FN turbofan, the aircraft demonstrates the exceptional agility of the J-10C through close-formation flying, synchronized rolls, opposing passes, and high-energy aerobatics. The Bayi Team has since represented the PLAAF at international events including the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) in 2023 and the Singapore Airshow in 2026, showcasing China's modern fighter technology to global audiences.
