The ROC M18s were used in tank battalions instead of specialized tank destroyer units. In the 1950s were in service with the 1st Armored Division near Hokou and the 2nd Armored Division near Taichung. The M18s were left in their original olive drab they wore when they arrived from the U.S. but eventually were painted in a 3-tone scheme with a dark green base coat and over sprayed with dark brown and black with the vehicle registration on the hull side in white paint. The ROC received 214 M18 Hellcats.
