MD-11 unit 464 c/n 48447 was delivered to Swissair on June 14, 1991 registered as HB-IWE and named “Nadelhorn”. On March 31, 2002 HB-IWE became the property of the newly formed Swiss International Airlines. The new airline began to sell off its MD-11s so HB-IWE was withdrawn from service and stored at Zurich until it was sold to Federal Express on March 1, 2005. The aircraft was converted from a passenger setup to a freight configuration and went into operation in June 2005 as N628FE.

Please note: Unlike other models in the Hobby Master Airliner Series, this model features diecast metal wings with a plastic fuselage containing a metal insert to add weight. The painting and markings are applied with the same precision as other models in the line however, so this model still looks perfectly at home in any diecast collection.
