Airbus A310-203 c/n 283 made its first flight on October 1, 1983 wearing the Air Bus registration F-WZEA. On January 13, 1984 the aircraft was delivered to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as PH-AGE "Jan Steen". The aircraft served with KLM until April 1, 1992 when it was delivered to MEA - Middle East Airlines and retained the PH-AGE. On October 23, 1997 PH-AGE was sold to FedEx as N443FE. On March 30, 1998 the aircraft was sent for conversion to an A310-203F and joined the active fleet in July 1998.
