Between March 1955 and August 1956 Lufthansa took delivery of eight L-1049G Constellations. D-ALOF was c/n 4642 and flew for Lufthansa from July 25, 1956 until October 6, 1967. On December 8, 1967 the aircraft was sold to the North American Aircraft Trading Corp. as 5T-TAG. On July 1, 1968 the aircraft was on approach during a storm to the Uli Airstrip in Nigeria when it landed short. The crash killed the 3 occupants and destroyed 10.5 tons of International Red Cross medical supplies destined for Biafra.
