Airbus A340-541, manufacturer serial number 628, registered HS-TLB and named "Uttaradit," was delivered to Thai Airways International in April 2005 as part of the carrier's fleet of four A340-500s acquired for ultra-long-haul nonstop routes including Bangkok to New York and Los Angeles. Despite the type's exceptional range, the A340-500's four-engine fuel burn proved uneconomical, and Thai withdrew HS-TLB from service in June 2012 after less than a decade of flying, placing it in storage at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport alongside sister aircraft HS-TLA, where it remained unsold for years despite repeated attempts to find a buyer.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
