Airbus A340-541, manufacturer serial number 775, registered HS-TLD, was delivered to Thai Airways International in April 2007, the last of the carrier's four A340-500s acquired for ultra-long-haul nonstop service to North America. HS-TLD outlasted its three sister aircraft in revenue service, clinging on until December 2013 before Thai withdrew it amid the type's uneconomical four-engine fuel burn. The aircraft was subsequently stored at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport, its Thai titles and logos eventually stripped from the fuselage and tail as the carrier prepared it for an anticipated sale that, like its sisters, proved difficult to finalize.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
