Boeing 747-121, manufacturer serial number 19652, line number 26, registered N748PA and named "Clipper Crest of the Wave," flew for Pan American World Airways as part of the airline's original fleet of 747s, among the earliest examples delivered following Pan Am's launch order for the type. Pan Am, the launch customer for the 747, built its long-haul international identity around the jumbo jet's unprecedented capacity, with N748PA supporting the carrier's transatlantic and other long-haul routes for two decades before Pan Am's dramatic 1991 bankruptcy and collapse ended the storied airline's 64-year history.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
