Boeing 747-121, manufacturer serial number 19653, line number 30, registered N749PA and named "Clipper Dashing Wave," flew for Pan American World Airways as part of the airline's original fleet of 747s, among the earliest examples delivered following Pan Am's launch order for the type. Pan Am built its long-haul international network around the 747's unprecedented capacity, with N749PA supporting the carrier's transatlantic and other long-haul routes for two decades before Pan Am's dramatic 1991 bankruptcy and collapse ended the storied airline's 64-year operating history.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
