The Boeing 747-8i, or 747-8 Intercontinental, is the passenger version of Boeing's final 747 generation and the longest commercial airliner Boeing has built. It was developed as a stretched, modernized successor to the 747-400, with new wings, General Electric GEnx-2B67 engines, improved aerodynamics, and 787-inspired technology. In a typical three-class layout it seats about 467 passengers, with a range of roughly 7,730 nautical miles and a cruise speed around Mach 0.855. The 747-8i first flew on March 20, 2011, entered service with Lufthansa on June 1, 2012, and remains one of aviation's most recognizable jumbo jets.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
