Boeing 727-64, registered XA-SEL, flew for Mexicana de Aviacion as part of the Mexican carrier's fleet of 727s supporting domestic Mexican routes and regional connections to the United States. Mexicana, one of the oldest airlines in the Americas tracing its founding to 1921, built an extensive narrowbody network using the 727 during the 1970s and 1980s before the carrier's eventual financial troubles and 2010 bankruptcy brought an end to nearly nine decades of operation.
