Douglas DC-8-62, serial number 46073, entered service with Braniff International Airways as N1805. The aircraft joined Braniff's long haul fleet in the late 1960s and operated international routes linking the United States with destinations across Latin America and Europe. The stretched DC-8-62 was designed for extended range operations and featured improved aerodynamics compared with earlier DC-8 variants. Configured with multiple passenger classes, the aircraft provided comfortable long distance travel during Braniff's period of international expansion. Powered by Pratt and Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, N1805 supported Braniff's growing global network before later transfers to other operators.
Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
