Boeing 747-481D, serial number 25631, entered service with All Nippon Airways as JA8961. The aircraft joined ANA's domestic high capacity fleet operating busy routes within Japan. Designed specifically for short distance, high demand sectors, the 747-400D variant featured increased seating capacity and the absence of winglets to reduce weight. Configured with a dense passenger cabin, the aircraft transported large numbers of travelers between major Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo. Powered by General Electric CF6 engines, JA8961 became a key aircraft in ANA's domestic network before the airline retired the type.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
