McDonnell Douglas MD-11F, serial number 48409, line number 490, operated by Korean Air as HL7373. Delivered on March 24, 1992 as a passenger MD-11, it was converted to a freighter in 1996. On April 15, 1999, HL7373 was operating Korean Air Cargo Flight 6316 from Shanghai Hongqiao to Seoul when the crew became confused over metric and imperial altitude measurements. The aircraft entered a steep descent shortly after takeoff and crashed near Shanghai. All three crew members and five people on the ground were killed. The accident ended HL7373's seven-year career.
Designed as a wide-bodied passenger and freight transport, the MD11 was first flown on January 10th, 1990. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
