Boeing 747-430M, operated by Lufthansa as D-ABTH and named "Duisburg." Delivered new in June 1991, the aircraft was a 747-400M Combi capable of carrying passengers together with substantial main-deck cargo. Powered by General Electric CF6 engines, D-ABTH spent more than 23 years operating Lufthansa's intercontinental network from Frankfurt. From February 2003 until November 2008, it wore distinctive Star Alliance colors. Lufthansa withdrew D-ABTH from service on November 1, 2014 as it progressively reduced its older 747-400 fleet in favor of newer 747-8 Intercontinentals and other efficient widebodies. The veteran Jumbo was subsequently partially scrapped.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
