The Battle of Midway is widely regarded as the most important naval battle of the Pacific Campaign of World War II. Between 4 and 7 June 1942, only six months after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, and one month after the Battle of the Coral Sea, the United States Navy decisively defeated an Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) attack against Midway Atoll, inflicting irreparable damage on the Japanese fleet. Includes 12 1:350 scale aircraft. 4 x F4F-4, 4 x SBD-3 and 4 x TBD-1. Additional 1:350 scale aircraft may be purchased separately. The Yorktown class was a class of three aircraft carriers build shortly before World War II and commissioned into the US Navy between 1937 and 1941. They immediately followed Ranger, the first U.S. aircraft carrier built as such, and benefited in design from experience with Ranger and the earlier Lexington class, which were conversions into carriers of two battlecruisers. The three ships of this class are noted for bearing the brunt of the fighting in the early months of the Pacific War, most notably during the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway, and the Guadalcanal campaign. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
