The Fiat CR42 was originally developed for the Italian air ministry in the late 1930's. This single engine, agile fighter biplane was ordered by Italy, Belgium, Hungary and Sweden. In 1944-45 Germany produced 150 of these biplanes. The Italian CR42 had a max speed of 270 mph and a range of approximately 500 miles.
Designed by Celestino Rosatelli to meet an Italian Air Ministry requirement for a highly manoeuvrable fighter biplane, the CR.42 was first flown on May 23rd, 1938. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
