1:110 Scale   Length   Width
Douglas A-1H Skyraider   4.25"   5.5"

This particular aircraft was flown by Clint Johnson on a MiG killing mission on June 20th, 1965. Four A-1s were jumped by two MiG-17s, who attempted to maneuver with the Skyraiders. One of the MiGs was downed after getting slow in front of the Skyraider's 20mm cannons and the kill was awarded jointly to two of the Skyraider pilots, Lt. Clint Johnson and Lt. Charles Hartman. The A1H was a carrier based dive-bomber that was very versatile and offered wide range of armaments. It's 10-hr endurance and heavy bomb load proved very effective for the Korean War, as a result, some 3,180 of these airplanes were built. A Wright 2,800-hp engine powered the plane to a top speed of 320 mph. four 20-mm cannons, and 8,000 lbs. of a wide variety bombs, torpedoes, and rockets were fitted on this aircraft.

Douglas A-1H Skyraider

Designed by Douglas' chief engineer Ed Heinemann, the A1 was first flown on March 18th, 1945. Used in Vietnam for close air support and for providing cover for combat rescue missions, the Skyraider was valued for its ability to devastate enemy ground targets. It had four 20-mm guns installed in the wings, and could be equipped with additional combinations of bombs, mines, gun pods and rockets. The Skyraider was large for a single-engine, single-seat low monoplane-its bigger-than-average fuselage had plenty of space for modification and could be used for carrying passengers, medical provisions or heavy cargo.
