Limited Edition

1:700 Scale   Length   Width
Yorktown-class Aircraft Carrier   14.25"   2"

USS Enterprise (CV-6), was the seventh U.S. Navy vessel to bear the name. Colloquially referred to as the "Big E", she was the sixth aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. Launched in 1936, she was one of three Yorktown-class carriers built, alongside USS Yorktown (CV-5) and USS Hornet (CV-8).

She participated in more major actions of the war against Japan than any other US ship. These actions included the Battle of Midway, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, various other air-sea engagements during the Guadalcanal Campaign, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. On three separate occasions during the Pacific War, the Japanese announced that she had been sunk in battle, earning her the name "The Grey Ghost".

Enterprise earned 20 battle stars, the most for any U.S. warship in World War II and became the most decorated US ship of World War II. By the end of the war, her planes and guns had downed 911 enemy planes, sunk 71 ships, and damaged or destroyed 192 more.

Yorktown-class Aircraft Carrier

The Yorktown class was a class of three aircraft carriers build shortly before World War II and commissioned into the US Navy between 1937 and 1941. They immediately followed Ranger, the first U.S. aircraft carrier built as such, and benefited in design from experience with Ranger and the earlier Lexington class, which were conversions into carriers of two battlecruisers. The three ships of this class are noted for bearing the brunt of the fighting in the early months of the Pacific War, most notably during the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway, and the Guadalcanal campaign.

Milvic's Yortown-class Aircraft Carriers are constructed using a heavy diecast metal hull with plastic decking resulting in a sturdy, yet highly detailed model. Antennas, masts, guns, railings and cranes are all finely detailed using photo-etched metal parts. Each of the three aircraft elevators can be displayed flush with the deck or removed to give the appearance of having descended to the hangar deck. Also included are ten miniature aircaft: Four TBD Devastator Torpedo Bombers and six SBD Dauntless Dive Bombers, one of which is mounted on a small wire stand, to display it taking off, over the bow of the ship.
