Boeing 737-8K5, registered OY-SEA, flew for Britannia Airways, the UK's largest charter airline, as part of the carrier's narrowbody fleet supporting package holiday routes to European leisure destinations. Britannia, founded in 1961 as Euravia and later acquired by TUI Group, rebranded as Thomsonfly in 2004 as part of a wider reorganization of TUI's UK aviation operations before eventually merging with First Choice Airways to form Thomson Airways in 2009. As part of Britannia's core narrowbody fleet during this transitional period, OY-SEA supported the carrier's extensive charter network connecting UK regional airports to holiday destinations. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
