Boeing 737-8K5, registered G-CDZI, flew for Thomsonfly, the UK charter and scheduled airline that emerged from the 2004 rebrand of Britannia Airways as part of TUI Group's reorganization of its UK operations. Thomsonfly operated a substantial fleet including 737-800s and 767-300ERs supporting both short and long-haul leisure routes from UK regional airports before merging with First Choice Airways in 2009 to form the combined Thomson Airways. As part of Thomsonfly's core narrowbody fleet during its five-year existence, G-CDZI supported the carrier's package holiday network connecting Britain to popular European sun destinations. Designed as a smaller, short-ranged alternative to the Boeing 707 and 727, the 737 was first flown on April 9th, 1967. Over its long operational carreer, the 737 has spawned numerous variants ranging in capacity from less than 100 to more than 200 seats. In fact, the 737 series is the best-selling jetliner in aviation history with more than 6,500 aircraft manufactured to date and more than 4,500 still in service with over 500 airlines around the world. Incredibly, there is a 737 taking off or landing somewhere in the world, on average, every five seconds. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
