Airbus A330-343, registered OY-VKI, flies for Sunclass Airlines, the Danish charter carrier affiliated with the Ving Group tour operator and formerly part of the Thomas Cook Group until its December 2019 rebrand following Thomas Cook's collapse. As part of Sunclass Airlines' fleet of A330-300s supporting long-haul leisure charter routes from Scandinavian bases including Copenhagen, the aircraft connects Nordic travelers to long-haul holiday destinations across the Caribbean, Asia, and other warm-weather markets. Sunclass Airlines traces its roots through Premiair, MyTravel Airways, and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia to its 1994 founding.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
