Airbus A330-343, registered B-5976, flies for China Eastern Airlines wearing a special "Toy Story" themed livery created in partnership with Disney, featuring beloved characters from the Pixar animated film franchise across the aircraft's fuselage. As part of China Eastern's substantial A330-300 fleet supporting domestic Chinese trunk routes and regional international destinations from Shanghai, the aircraft reflects the airline's practice of using licensed entertainment franchise liveries to generate marketing attention and appeal to family travelers. Such character-themed schemes have become a popular promotional tool among Chinese carriers competing for passenger attention in a crowded domestic aviation market.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
