Boeing 777-236ER, registered G-YMMH, flies for British Airways as part of the carrier's substantial fleet of 777-200ERs, identifiable by their distinctive "G-YMM" registration series applied across this generation of British Airways widebodies. As part of BA's core long-haul fleet supporting routes from London Heathrow to destinations across the Americas, Africa, and Asia, the aircraft has served the carrier for over two decades. British Airways operates one of the largest 777-200ER fleets among European carriers, using the type alongside newer 777-300ERs and A350s to maintain its extensive intercontinental network from its London hub.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
