Boeing 777-28EER, registered HL7791, flies for Asiana Airlines wearing revised titles reflecting an updated version of the carrier's livery applied across its fleet. As part of Asiana's fleet of 777-200ERs supporting long-haul international routes from Seoul Incheon to destinations across Asia, North America, and Europe, the aircraft represents a core widebody type in the South Korean carrier's fleet. Asiana Airlines, a Star Alliance member now majority owned by Korean Air following a 2024 acquisition, continues operating its 777-200ER fleet alongside newer A350 aircraft on its long-haul international network.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
