Boeing 777-31B(ER), registered B-2025, flies for China Southern Airlines as part of the carrier's substantial fleet of 777-300ERs supporting long-haul international routes from Guangzhou. China Southern operates one of the world's largest 777-300ER fleets, using the type on high-capacity long-haul routes connecting China to destinations across Australia, Europe, and North America. As part of this extensive widebody fleet, B-2025 supports China Southern's role as China's largest carrier by fleet size and a key SkyTeam alliance member on the airline's premium long-haul international network.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection.
