Boeing 777-367ER, serial number 36160, line number 843, operated by Cathay Pacific as B-KPO. Delivered new on January 25, 2010, it was ferried from Everett to Hong Kong the following day and entered Cathay's long-haul fleet with GE90-115B engines. B-KPO originally carried Cathay's first-class cabin and underwent major interior reconfigurations in 2018 and 2024. Unlike many Cathay 777s, it experienced only a relatively short pandemic storage period at Hong Kong, from February to June 2021. In April 2026 it received an "80 Years Together" commemorative sticker celebrating Cathay Pacific's 80th anniversary. B-KPO remains active on routes including London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sydney.
Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to compete with the Airbus A330/A340 and the McDonnell Douglas MD-11, the 777 was first flown on June 12th, 1994. A pair of the world's largest diameter turbofan engines power the aircraft which currently holds the record for world's largest twin-engined airliner. The 777 was Boeing's first fly-by-wire airliner, featuring complete glass cockpit displays and flight envelope protection. Standard varients have a range of 4,200 nautical miles while Extended Range (ER) variants can fly for 6,600 nautical miles and the Longer Range (LR) variant is the world's longest range airliner capable of flying 7,800 nautical miles. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
