McDonnell Douglas MD-88, serial number 49536, entered service with Delta Air Lines as N905DL in April 1987. Originally constructed as an MD-82, the aircraft was upgraded to MD-88 configuration in August 1988 and became part of Delta's enormous fleet of rear-engined McDonnell Douglas twinjets. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, N905DL operated domestic services throughout the United States for more than three decades. The aircraft was withdrawn from service on April 28, 2020, stored at Blytheville, Arkansas, and subsequently broken up, concluding approximately 33 years of service with Delta.
