Comac ARJ21-700, marketed under the rebranded designation C909, registered B-651U, flies for China Eastern Airlines as part of the carrier's fleet of Chinese-built regional jets supporting domestic routes too thin for larger mainline aircraft. The ARJ21, developed by Comac as China's first domestically designed regional jet, received the C909 branding to align with the naming convention of its larger sibling, the C919. As part of China Eastern's growing fleet of domestically manufactured aircraft, B-651U reflects China's ongoing push toward aerospace self-sufficiency, supporting the carrier's regional network connecting smaller Chinese cities to the airline's major hub airports.
