Our Me 163B is a replica of the bright red aircraft flown by Major Wolfgang Spate, complete with German markings in black and white. Because of its glider heritage in real life, our aircraft also features the authentic skids used for landing, which could be retracted into the aircraft keel in flight. We have also replicated the wheel configuration that comprised a pair of wheels, each mounted onto the ends of a specially designed cross axle mounted under the landing skid. These were needed due to the weight of the fuel but were also released shortly after take-off. Final detailing on our model includes silver exhaust pipes, wheel hubs and Pitot tube, while propeller spinner and tyres are finished in matt black.
Designed as a rocket powered, high-speed, high-altitude interceptor, the Me 163 was first flown in the summer of 1941. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
