Boeing 747-830, serial number 37838, entered service with Lufthansa as D-ABYN. Delivered in March 2014 and named "Niedersachsen," the aircraft joined Lufthansa's modern 747-8 Intercontinental fleet for long haul services from Frankfurt to destinations worldwide. Powered by four General Electric GEnx-2B engines, the 747-8I combines the classic Jumbo Jet configuration with improved range, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort. In March 2026, D-ABYN received Lufthansa's striking 100th anniversary special livery, featuring an oversized white crane against a dark blue fuselage to celebrate the airline's centenary.
