Airbus A330-343, serial number 1105, entered service with Singapore Airlines as 9V-STL before later joining Air Canada as C-FDHU. Delivered to Singapore Airlines in 2010, the aircraft subsequently passed through other operators before joining Air Canada's widebody fleet. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, the A330-300 provides an effective combination of passenger capacity, range, and operating efficiency. C-FDHU now operates domestic transcontinental and international services from Air Canada's major hubs, supporting routes to destinations throughout Europe, the Caribbean, and the Americas.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers.
