Airbus A340-542, serial number 894, entered service with Azerbaijan Airlines as 4K-AZ86. Originally built in 2008 for Kingfisher Airlines as VT-VJB, the aircraft was never taken up and eventually joined Azerbaijan Airlines in December 2012. Named "Nakhchivan," it was configured with 36 business class and 201 economy seats and used on long haul services from Baku, including routes to Europe, Asia, and North America. Powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 553 engines, the A340-500 offered exceptional range for nonstop intercontinental operations. 4K-AZ86 was withdrawn from use and stored at Baku in March 2023.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport, the A340 was first flown on October 25th, 1991. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
