Airbus A320-232, registered A7-AHO, flies for Qatar Airways as part of the Gulf carrier's fleet of A320s supporting regional Middle Eastern routes from Doha's Hamad International Airport. Qatar Airways operates a mixed narrowbody fleet including A320s and A321s to serve shorter regional routes that complement the carrier's extensive long-haul widebody network. As part of this fleet, A7-AHO supports Qatar Airways' regional connectivity within the Gulf and broader Middle East, providing efficient capacity for routes too short to warrant the carrier's larger widebody aircraft.
Designed as a short/medium range narrow-body airliner to compete with the Boeing 737, the Airbus A320 was first flown on February 22nd, 1987. The A320 features side stick controllers and glass cockpit and was the world's first airliner to use use a digital fly-by-wire control system. Controversially, the software includes "flight envelope protection" to prevent the pilot from exceeding safe flight parameters. The highly successful design rapidly led to the development of the shortened-fuselage A318 and A319, and lengthened-fuselage A321 derivatives. More than 4,500 of the A320 family have been produced, almost all of which are still in active service. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
